Hello Dear Friends,

I’m back. How are you?

I am sitting in a hotel suite in Washington, D.C.

I told you I received a job offer here recently, and I am getting ready to connect with old friends and look at apartments.

I suspect these next few days will be the last in which I can do whatever I want. I know I will miss the freedom, but the change has been a long time coming.

In the midst of all the moving around, I’ve found it challenging to process all of the headlines.

Here are a few that are on my radar, plus a bonus from another project that I am working on.

Happy Monday,
Kim B.

Biden’s Spending Plans 2021

President Biden has introduced several multi-trillion dollar social service bills since taking office in January– each piece of legislation costing about $2 trillion a piece.

The American Rescue Plan was passed back in March, and is commonly referred to as the Coronavirus Relief Bill. The American Jobs plan has been dubbed the President’s Infrastructure Bill. And the latest, The American Families Plan, includes billions of dollars to cover free childcare, Pre-K and community college for all Americans.

Caitlyn Jenner’s Controversial Stance on Children’s Sports

Caitlyn Jenner says that transgender girls should not be allowed to compete in girls sports in school. According to Jenner, the transgender girls would have an unfair advantage.

Before transitioning, Caitlyn Jenner went by Bruce Jenner and competed in the 1976 Olympics as a cis male.

Jenner is currently running for governor of California on the Republican ticket. (Source.)

Manhattan Beach To Pay Reparations?

Manhattan Beach officials are considering whether or not to give a plot of land to the family of some of the community’s first black land owners.

According to CBSnews.com, “Manhattan Beach is a favorite for seeking a spot on the sand or a stroll on the strand – where homes can sell for upwards of $20 million.

But it looked a lot more vacant in 1912 when Willa and Charles Bruce bought an ocean-view lot for around $1,200.”

The family would later be run out of town by the Klu Klux Klan, and others who admitted to “trying to end the ‘negro invasion.’” (Source.)

Hey my loves. Here is an excerpt of the blog that I’ve sent to you before. I made it to Washington, D.C., and I am getting ready to put down roots, but the city met me with a not-so-gracious welcome…

My car was broken into last night. Nothing was stolen, but someone touched all of the things in my car.

He, she or they dumped all of my cleaning supplies on the sidewalk, emptied my glove compartment and the middle console. The perp(s) went through a new wallet I had with tags on it, and flung it down in frustration on the heap. And I just washed my car before I drove down here.

My canine whined the entire time I was cleaning up the mess and calling the police, who told me there was not much that they could do.

After the incident, I alerted all of my loved ones and ate breakfast and went to the gym, like nothing happened. These days, I feel like reeling is a luxury… (Read More.)
